How Classic Cars Get Their Names?

Car manufacturers usually have their own interesting stories behind their names. Several classic cars were the founder, such as Ferrari, Rolls Royce and Buick named. Others were on the place, are named to the manufacturer. Some have even known the name of a person and a very influential as Lincoln. Here are some other interesting stories behind classic cars.



Alvis is one of the British car manufacturer. The name was shortened by the addition of the word AL aluminum and formed the Latin ending-vis this powerful medium. The two then combined to form a new word Alvis, a strong form

Pontiac was a famous Indian chief. It is he who has organized one of the largest stands against the colonial invasion.

Mercedes is named after the daughter of Emil Jellinek. He was one of their dealers, Daimler and Benz helped in overcoming French official proceedings if they were on their way to the French automobile market break. As a result of aid, and Daimler-Benz decided to pay its new line of cars Jellinek's daughter that name. Wilkinson has three consonants of his name, Trevor, for his classic brand of the car maker TVR.
